FAQ’s
Is there a minimum level of French required to participate in the programme?
A certain level of French is not required for the Master of Finance. However, courses can be selected to ensure that the entire programme is taught in English and that all ESSEC staff members are fluent. So, you will get the opportunity to learn French both during your schedule and in an intensive session before the start of your programme.
It is, nevertheless, highly advised that you try to learn French while you are here. Because you will be living in France and surrounded by French-speaking classmates and friends, learning the language will be beneficial to you during your time at ESSEC and in France. Furthermore, studying French is essential if you are not fluent in French and plan to stay in France for an internship or career in the future.
Can I obtain an APS (Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour) in France after the programme?
Yes, but only if you already have student residency permission in France.
The Temporary Resident Permit, or APS (for “Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour”), allows international students to stay in France for a year after finishing their studies, whether they complete the programme in one year or two.
They may look for work (without restriction) or plan to start a business in a field related to their education during this time. Foreign graduates with an APS are entitled to work under the same conditions as students until a work contract is signed, either for a fixed amount of time (CDD) or indefinitely (CDI), meaning a maximum of 964 hours per year, or around 20 hours per week.
How significant are letters of recommendation?
Letters of recommendation are pretty significant. The admissions committee is accustomed to seeing these, and the ones that stand out provide tangible examples of how the student lives up to the praise/recommendations bestowed. As a result, choose references who are the most familiar with you and have worked with you in the past, whether academically or professionally. It is preferable to receive a reference from someone you know rather than someone you chose solely based on their position.
Is it necessary to have prior professional experience?
No, you don’t need any prior professional experience. However, work immersion is beneficial to your application for admission to the programme since it enhances your application.
What is the minimum GMAT score required for admission to the MFin program at ESSEC Business School?
There is no specific GMAT score requirement prescribed for admission to the MFin program on ESSEC Business School’s official website. However, students must not forget the GMAT exam results are held valid only for a period of 5 years from the date of the exam.
