Adcoms use LORs to verify the legitimacy of a candidate’s professional and academic accomplishments and experiences. Typically, colleges require one academic and one professional LOR; however, these requirements vary per university. In most cases, an academic LOR is necessary to examine how the candidate performed in high school or college, as well as their strengths and limitations.
