SMU’s MiM program put extra emphasis on indulging communication as well as leadership skills as a part of their curriculum to ensure maximum development of their cohort’s profile.Â
The program’s curriculum contains a number of classes, of which MiM students must complete 8 modules that make up our core curriculum, due to SMU’s distinctive emphasis on leadership and communication abilities.Â

Application Essay for SMU MiM
SMU MiM asks for two essays in their application process. The essays are required to gauge your potential and understand your perspective on why you think SMU’s MiM program is the right fit for you.Â
- Why do you want to earn an MiM and why are you choosing to apply to SMU? If you are selected, how will you contribute to the SMU MIM programme? (500 words)
- Describe your greatest weakness and how you have tried to overcome it. (300 words)
Letter of Recommendation for SMU MiM
Two letters of recommendation are required, one of which should be from a current employer. Choose people with whom you’ve had a lot of professional interaction, such as your boss or a key client.
Title of your recommender is not really important. However, the recommender must be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. It would be highly helpful if he could talk about how valuable you are as an employee, your professional success, personal traits and interpersonal abilities at the workplace.
Please understand that a letter of recommendation from relatives, friends, family members is not appropriate and hence, you should avoid submitting the same.Â
The program also gives their candidates a choice of not submitting a letter of recommendation. However, in such case you should give a suitable reason as to why you do not wish to submit the recommendation. All in all, it is generally recommended for you to submit two Letter of Recommendations.

Do I need to be from a finance or business domain to get enrolled on this program?
No, we accept students from all backgrounds and levels of employment and seek out different persons to improve the learning environment.
When do I need to select between the full-time or the part-time program?
Yes, we do ask that you select the programme that best suits your needs since we’ll be working to create a diverse class for each one. Requests to move between programmes will be considered, but it is not guaranteed.
Can a candidate apply before taking the GMAT?
Sending us your application is possible before you take the GMAT. However, the GMAT result will not be considered until it is received.
Can I reapply for the MiM program?
Yes, you can reapply for the MBA program. However, make sure to not apply for the same academic year. So, there should be at least 1 year gap or wait period between the said reapplications. While reapplying for the program, make sure to send the reapplication essay along with an additional LOR.Â
Are financial aid or scholarships available for MiM applicants?
Yes. The SMU MBA program offers multiple scholarships for both full-time and part-time MBA candidates. The award offers upto 30% of the tuition fees.Â
