Loans for Master's Students (Entry 2024)
Generally, for your first master's degree, you might get a loan from the UK government to help with tuition and living expenses. However, full details for 2024 haven't been shared yet. Information currently reflects the 2023 guidelines but will be updated.
Loan Amounts
What you can get depends on where you live:
England and the Republic of Ireland
- In England and the Republic of Ireland, you can apply for a loan of up to £12,471 for course and living costs
- The loan will be divided equally if you're studying for two, three or four academic years
- The loan is paid into your bank account in three installments during the academic year
Wales
- In Wales, you can apply for a loan of up to £18,950 for course and living costs
- The loan will be divided equally if you're studying for two, three or four academic years
- The loan is paid into your bank account in three installments during the academic year
Scotland
- In Scotland, you can apply for a tuition fee loan of up to £7,000, which is paid directly to the University
- You can also apply for a loan of up to £6,900 towards living costs which is paid into your bank account in regular instalments during the year
Northern Ireland
- In Northern Ireland, you can apply for a tuition fee loan of up to £6,500, which is paid directly to the University
- The loan will be divided equally if you're studying for two or three academic years
