Duration of M.Eng degree
Generally, Masters Degree takes two years to complete, but time period may be shorter or longer depending on how the degree program is structured, whether the student is enrolled full time or part time, the degree requirements and prior preparation of the students. During these two years, students need to complete their thesis along with their coursework.
Admission requirement for M.Eng programs
- GRE official test score report.
- English language proficiency test score report (TOEFL(preferred) or IELTS)
- Transcripts of your undergraduate degree (at least the 3rd year results for final year students)
- Two or three letters of recommendation.

Except for MIS, others are intensively academic courses with a lot of emphases placed on grades. GPA is of paramount importance to most universities for CS and EE courses though the stress they place on it varies from one university to another.
UT Dallas, for example, has a strong focus on GPA whereas at SUNY Buffalo stellar GRE and TOFEL can offset a mildly weak GPA.
English Language tests such as TOEFL mostly act as negative filters which can eliminate you if you have low scores but don’t really get you an admit.
Do I need a GRE Score?
- Mostly, GRE test score is compulsory for M.Eng. It may be waived off for candidates who are going to peruse for Master’s degree in the same university after bachelor’s degree
